I grew up working on "projects" with my Dad. Every weekend was something different. Recreation rooms, remodeling, decks, etc. It was always something different and I loved every minute of it. It was quality time with my Dad and also a sense of accomplishment when the project was complete.
My background includes digital marketing and after completing a design for a local company the next progression was to help them to be found on the web. They had very little experience with how that worked and it's often expensive so before they committed to move forward with my services they challenged me to take a business that I had never worked with before and put them up on the first page of Google within 45 days.
I had neighbors, (Pete and Janet) that recently had flood damage and were throwing out a bunch of doors. I looked at that as a free resource. My approach has never been to copy anyone's work so I took the doors, seamed them together and started the process of making my first headboard. After posting it online I started to get a lot of traction so the designs were expanded into other re-purposed materials like antique doors, pallet wood, barn wood, plank wood.
There was a sign in my Dad's workshop that read "Doing it right means doing it once." Those words are what I live by every day.
